Bay Cove Opens The Mirasol Center for Healing

Bay Cove is proud to announce the opening of a brand new program specifically designed to meet the most pressing needs identified by women surveyed at and near the area of Boston known as “Mass & Cass.”

The Mirasol Center for Healing (MCH) is an innovative, trauma-responsive program for adults who identify as female, who struggle with the challenges associated with substance use disorder (SUD) and homelessness. The program is located at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain.

The program’s vision is to save lives by providing a safe place to stay and supports that range from acute SUD and stabilization services, to holistic therapies, to connection with more advanced services that will support each woman’s healing and recovery journey.

Core services will be provided through a multidisciplinary team—including nursing, medical/psychiatry, clinical therapy, case management, and peer recovery navigation—in collaboration between Bay Cove and partners including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Boston, and Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, to provide ongoing outreach, support, and transportation to the Mirasol Center.

Lydie Ultimo-Prophil, Bay Cove’s VP of Addiction Services, says of the new program, “We are very excited to be opening The Mirasol Center For Healing, which is the result of people coming together in partnership to address the immediate, critical needs of our vulnerable neighbors—particularly the people in the Mass and Cass area—who are living with substance use disorder and experiencing related challenges like homelessness. We are committed to continuing to build on these partnerships and quickly expand the resources available to support all of the people on the streets who are in need of comprehensive services.”
